Transcendental Tracks - Episode 2

For the second installment of Transcendental Tracks, I'd like to showcase an amazing band from back east called Animal Collective. I first heard this band in high school, and was pleasantly surprised this past year to find that a once-obscure band I liked (that combined acoustic guitars AND dr. samples AND sang about "kitties") was now touring extensively and playing at giant festivals worldwide. The Collective is made up of four members, each accomplished in multiple instruments, that switch in and out of the lineup at whim, making tours, TV appearances, and studio recordings unique, dynamic experiences. Their sound is, at times, experimental and incomprehensibly weird, but is always interesting and impressive. The band's latest album, Merriweather Post Pavillion, is chalk-full of awesome electronica-influenced glitch beats, samples, and synth lines. Their work is definitely worth the itunes price-tag.
